In 2020 Arpa Industriale achieved an important goal: 100% of the electrical energy used by its headquarters and production site in Bra, Italy, came from renewable resources. The achievement is part of the company’s long-term commitment to materialise sustainability.

Between August and November of 2019, Arpa Industriale installed over 6,000 photovoltaic panels, of 400 watt each, on the roofs of its production site. The aim was to reduce the impact on the environment by diminishing greenhouse gas emissions while obtaining a significant energy saving.

With a total of 14,000 m2 of photovoltaic panels, it became the second largest photovoltaic system installed in Italy in 2019. True to its beliefs, Arpa chose the technical solution that provided the safest setting. The optimisers installed decrease the wattage in case of malfunctions. This has been greatly appreciated by local authorities and first responders.

The photovoltaic system officially started working last year, on January 15. It allowed the company to save, in 2020, over 2.800.000 kWh of energy. This equaled to 18% of Arpa’s consumption needs.

The company also bought certified clean energy, guaranteeing that 100% of the energy used through the year came from renewable resources. According to calculations made with LCA methodology, the use of clean energy resulted in an 11% reduction in CO2eq kg per panel m2 (both in comparison to 2016 and 2019).
