Sustainability
The basis of our sustainability policy is that we strongly believe that any change should start with ourselves.
During a top management summit in 2010, we decided to add sustainable development
more explicitly to the way we want to conduct our business and make it part of our
License to Operate priorities.
Sustainable development provides us with challenges as well as new opportunities.
The challenge is to limit the impact of our product and operations on the environment.
At the same time we see opportunities to help our customers solve their sustainability needs
through new products and solutions.
We are fully committed to playing our part in understanding and meeting the associated diverse challenges, now and in the future.
Do no harm
Our first task is to comply with the safety, product and sustainability rules and guidelines set by the countries that we operate in. In addition, we are looking for opportunities to minimize the impact from our operations and products. Our policy therefore starts with ensuring that everything in our direct control creates as little negative impact on our environment as possible.
Do good
The second element of our policy is that we strive to help our customers realize their sustainability challenges. This means that we look for opportunities to maximize the sustainability contribution of our products in their end-use. Moreover, we will continue to look for opportunities and initiatives to support and promote longer-term sustainable development beyond the direct scope of our current operations.
